About Finch Home Studio — Interior Design in North Carolina

Finch Home Studio is an interior design studio based in North Carolina, offering full-service interior design, kitchen and bathroom remodeling design, renovation planning, and project coordination for homeowners in Raleigh, Cary, Durham, Chapel Hill, Apex, and the Research Triangle.

Behind the studio are two designers — Erica Gallardo and Malorie Campinoti — each bringing a distinct professional background to the work. What they share is an eye for detail, a respect for how people actually live in their homes, and a commitment to making the design process feel less overwhelming and more intentional.

I built my foundation in fashion, marketing, and entrepreneurship in Brazil. With a degree in Marketing and many years working as a fashion designer, I learned how to combine creativity with strategy — creating ideas that are not only beautiful, but also functional, purposeful, and ready to become real.

Over the years, I created and led multiple business ventures, including digital businesses, which shaped the way I understand people, brands, and the process of turning ideas into something practical, meaningful, and lasting.

In recent years, my work in the American interior design market has brought me closer to the full renovation process — from understanding a client's vision to selecting finishes, coordinating details, and helping transform ideas into finished spaces.

As a mother of two teenagers, I know how much a home has to support everyday routines, family moments, and the many different ways people live inside their spaces.

That is how the idea for Finch Home Studio was born: to bring thoughtful design, experienced guidance, and a refined creative process to homeowners who want their spaces to feel more beautiful, intentional, and truly their own.

My path to interior design wasn't traditional — and honestly, I think that is part of what makes Finch Home Studio different.

I graduated from FIT in New York City and spent ten years in fashion merchandising with brands like Burberry, Ann Taylor, and West Elm. That experience trained my eye for color, texture, styling, and trends — skills that now shape the way I see every room.

After leaving the fashion industry to raise my three kids, I built a portrait photography business, where I spent years working with light, scale, composition, and emotion. Looking through a lens changed the way I see beauty, balance, and the details that make a space feel intentional.

Through every stage of life, I was always the person rearranging, renovating, and reimagining the spaces around me. After moving from Brooklyn to Cary, that passion naturally grew into something more.

At Finch Home Studio, I bring an eye for balance, styling, and thoughtful aesthetics — creating spaces that feel beautiful, personal, and deeply connected to the people who live in them.

The Studio

About the Studio

Finch Home Studio was founded to fill a gap that both Erica and Malorie experienced firsthand: homeowners who want beautiful, functional spaces but need more than a mood board — they need someone who can help them make the hundreds of decisions a renovation requires, coordinate the details, and protect their investment throughout the process.

The studio works with homeowners at every stage — from a focused color consultation before a renovation begins to full-service design and project coordination that carries a project from concept to final styling. What stays consistent is the approach: every decision is made with the homeowner's actual life in mind, not just the finished photograph.

The name Finch reflects something specific about the work. Finches are known for precision and adaptability — building something carefully, with attention to the details that make it last. That is how the studio approaches design: methodical, considered, and built to feel right for the people who live there.

Philosophy

Our Design Philosophy

01

Function First

A space that is beautiful but does not work for daily life is not a successful design. Every layout decision, every material choice, every furniture placement starts with how you actually live in your home — your routines, your family, your habits.

02

Cohesion Over Trend

Good design ages well. Finch Home Studio selects colors, materials, and furnishings that feel intentional and connected to the home — not based on what is popular this season. A cohesive space ten years from now is the goal.

03

Planning Protects Your Investment

Most renovation mistakes happen when decisions are made mid-project. A complete design plan before construction starts reduces costly changes, protects your budget, and gives your contractor a clear plan to execute from day one.

04

One Point of Contact

Managing a renovation should not feel like managing three different teams. Finch Home Studio coordinates the decisions, the materials, and the vendors so you do not have to. One contact, one direction, one finished space.

Process

How We Work

Not every project includes all five phases. We offer focused services for clients at any stage of the process.

Explore all services →
1

Discovery

We learn about your space, your goals, your lifestyle, and the decisions you are facing. This is where we understand what you want the space to feel like and how you actually use it.

2

Design Direction

We develop a clear design direction: layouts, materials, color palette, and the overall vision for the space. You see the plan before a single contractor is hired.

3

Material & Finish Selection

We select every finish, fixture, tile, countertop, hardware, and fabric as a cohesive whole. Nothing is left to chance or chosen under pressure.

4

Documentation

We produce the specification documents your contractor needs to bid accurately, order materials correctly, and build without guesswork.

5

Coordination & Styling

We stay involved through construction, coordinating with vendors and contractors, and return for final styling once the space is complete.
